now for the fun stuff

WELL... now that the blog is set up i can go back to my usual witty commentary on this trip, life and otherwise.

well. today i attended an event so extraordinary that i HAD to write about it straight away. so we heard a rumor that at this one market in la paz every sunday, there are wrestling matches between chollas which are traditional south american women. clearly we needed to see what was going on.

so we arricve there and buy our tickets and go in and it is a run down community center/gym with a legit wrestling ring in the middle. over the next 4 hours we proceed to witness the most ridiculous wwf style absurdity. there are 6 matches. between costumed opponents and a crooked ref who is always on someones side. it is completely fake of course until people get thrown out of the ring and actually get hurt, when the 15 year olds who are working as security/crowd control/medics come over to make sure they are ok..

during the 4th round. the second guy comes out and he is dressed like a monk and is flanked by 2 guys dressed like the KKK (no shit) except in black. they are also carrying a burning cross. (could i make this shit up???) hey then proceeds to dominate his opponent by burning him with fire, trhowing boxes on him and pouring gasoline on his legs and lighting them on fire. WTF!?!?!?! as a finale, he ties him to the cross. thats right. i am in south america, one of the more religious christian continents on the planet, and HE LEGIT CRUCIFIED HIM!!
the children in the audience were horrified and in my oppinion will have an aversion to religion for many years to come but anyways...

oh and there was also a wrestler dressed as an indian who definitely singlehandedly set native american affairs back at least 50 years.
the ladies wrestled in the last round and it was amusing to say the least.
tomorrow i am going to a city called cuchabamba and then i will be in the jungles.

more amusement to follow.

besos!!!
